My crafting journey started with papercrafts. It was just a material I always had at home. Easy to manipulate. Cheap. Anyways, I’m super excited to share with you a project I recently completed…a mini album!
I’ve been a big fan of Paige Taylor Evans and I knew I wanted to use one of her templates to create a mini album. After scrolling in awe of her various templates, I came across the heart squash mini album cut file. It’s Design ID#271643 on the Silhouette Design Store site.
I learned a new technique (zig-zag stitching two pieces of paper together) that felt so daunting that I didn’t even want to try it. But I’m glad I did! I am HOOKED! Yup, it is more time-consuming but I feel like it really adds a personal touch. It’s those little details that make a big impact.
The only thing I would change is angling the photos correctly (-45 degrees) so that you don’t have to tilt your head. Paige’s YouTube example shows that but I got too excited in starting this project that I missed that detail. Guess I’ll have to make another heart squash mini album!! 🙂
If you’re thinking about making one, you totally should! The best way to start is to have coordinating scrapbook papers. I have a tendency to buy loose 12″x12″ papers so it took a bit of time to find somewhat coordinating papers.
I’ll list some papercrafting supply recommendations below. Please note below are a few affiliate links. If you use these links to buy something, I may earn a commission, which helps me continue to share fun project ideas with you. Thanks!
- Solid cardstock for base of template
- 6×6 paper pads (link, link, link) – so many great choices!
- Tombow Mono MultiLiquid Glue (link) – hands down, my favorite papercrafting glue. It holds papers together really well!
- Taperunner XL (link) – ultra-thin layer of double-sided adhesive, perfect when you don’t need glue
- Embellishments like stickers, print-and-cut diecuts, adhesive letters, washi tape, and ribbon
- Coordinating thread (if you’re sewing)
