Hello? Has anyone seen Fall? Its arrival was due 10 days ago and lemme just tell you that Summer was still around yesterday. Oy, it was a scorcher. I would know…I was on a field trip broiling under the blazing sun while trying to keep it cool with 22 kindergartners. We learned about the life of a pumpkin, from seed to plant, and all I could think about (to get my mind off how hot it was) was my upcoming favorite holiday, Halloween!

Last year we transformed our front door into Mr. Friendly Frankenstein not realizing my oldest loved it so much that he wanted to do it again this year. I suppose this is how family traditions start! And if we have a Halloween family tradition, I’m 150% okay with that! 🙂

First things first, we created a base layer using Pacon’s Fadeless Bulletin Board Paper. I purchased a roll of lime green paper from Amazon (link) and trimmed to wrap over the top and bottom of our door and taped it on the backside of the door. Then, we spun a yarn web, which was one of my very first tutorials made on my old craft blog. I’ve updated the tutorial and posted it last year, which you can read about here. This is an easy DIY to do with your kids. My oldest loved helping and seeing the web get bigger and bigger. Next, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the oversized spider and the “Trick or Treat” banner. And of course, Halloween decor is the spookiest when it glows in the dark so I used glow-in-the-dark adhesive vinyl for the spider’s eyes!

How are you getting ready for Halloween?
