Next up! My littlest’s birthday! From a young age, she has liked cats albeit I don’t think she’s ever touched one before. I think it stemmed from a lot of baby and toddler girl clothing having some sort of “meow meow” design.

I still remember this one day I had dressed her in cat everything without even realizing it! 🤦 She was wearing cat rain boots, cat knee-patch leggings, and a patterned dress with…you guessed it…cute cat faces!

So, needless to say, we are having a cat-themed birthday party with art activities! I used my Silhouette Mint (affiliate link) to create a mini stamp using the adorable cat face from Design ID#296253, from which I used to customize tissue paper for the party favor bags. I love how it looks like it came that way!

Then I went down the rabbit hole searching for cat-themed washi tape but found nothing I really liked. But…*light bulb!* With a little help from online researching, I found out I can make faux washi tape by using tissue paper and double-sided adhesive, both of which I had at home already! SCORE!

Here’s how I made my own “washi” tape:

Step 1: Cut strips of tissue paper of your desired length and width. I recommend a width no more than 0.5in so that it looks like washi tape.

Step 2: Stamp design across tissue paper strips. For a more realistic effect, start stamp partially off the strip.

Step 3: Flip tissue paper strip over and apply double-sided adhesive. I used my favorite adhesive, Thermoweb’s Tape Runner (affiliate link). Voila! You have just made a strip of faux washi tape! Clever, yeah??

The Silhouette Mint continues to surprise me in the different ways I can use it! From just one little 15mm x 15mm stamp, I was able to create two opportunities to customize my little girl’s party! I’m sure I can use it on many other things too! Hmm…now it sounds like I’m turning into a #crazycatlady!
